Thanks Colin,

our last comments crossed - I was responding to your earlier one as you wrote the second one.

It is certainly living, in that I will be adding to it quite a bit.

I'm already monetising it - everyone who downloads the sucker is adding one more pageview :) Some future version might sell for a couple of bucks a copy via lulu.com or somesuch. For now I am pleased to spread it far and wide.

Best regards, Andrew

Thanks Colin,

most kind of you to say. It has a bit of a ways to go, but everything in it is tested and works.

Content is indeed king, and there are no shortcuts - if there were, I would have found them :)

Best regards and thanks once again, Andrew

Reading the comment, I just wanted to say that I read the whole ebook, but some of it I glazed over since I am not contemplating a change in how I blog. Very excellent and a great living document that can evolve as things change. Now you need to monetise it.

Hello Andrew

Thanks for the very interesting and useful post. While I have no interest in self hosting at this time, the material that you cover is excellent. Most of us simple bloggers have no idea how to change things and to move to the next level. Your writing explains things in a way that allows bloggers to think about different ways of doing things. You lay things out in a very helpful, non threatening and upbeat way.

I am also glad that you do not sell this as a blog saviour strategy. As you very clearly spell out, content is king. There are some tremendous writers who have very simple free blogspot, wordpress and typepad blogs.

Horses for Courses is they way. Probably more like the Grand National than the Melbourne Cup for many, but it is all about getting noticed and getting read. The medium is the message and the avenue is somewhat irrelevant.
